Abstract

Partners: (KWDAN , Algandual) networks , Sudan university for science & technology, HAC, MOA) lunch house biogas pilot, Shalaloub village 10k east of Kassala Project locations 1. Shamobo, rural kassala locality 10 k east Kassala with criteria of easy to access as prototype, community from poor’s purchase firewood , easy for accessibility by audience from other rural resident with rural traditional 2. Algabart in Telkuk locality 65 k from Kassala, a rural community, lack of access to LPG, no cultural hindrances, water supply is available , free collection of firewood. Stake holders 1. Networks (KWDA +Algandoul 2. Localities (Kassal+Telkuk ) 3. Institutions (MOA + HAC + FNC + T.V + Radio , Sudan University for tech science & technology ) Objective To relieve poverty by solving environmental problems with their own local means to identify economic feasibility, value the less physical benefits from households Biogas systems processing waste from cows converted to biogas for cooking prevents environmental problems and creates investment opportunities to utilize the sufficient volume available free of waste , turning the resource into a more valuable product , Significant social, economic and/or environmental benefits, and eliminate negative aspects that would affect the environment Intended outcomes By developing household biogas we hope to solve economic problems –such as deforestation , improve women’s health , replacement of national importation of fuels, improved health & water quality, more crop production, reduce cost of daily cooking fuel , Wastes utilized and Women have more time , Our monitoring in this pilot prototype are 1. Cost of fuel/year (or cost of time getting fuel) 2. Cost of biogas digester 3. Time to repay cost of biogas digester in savings on fuel purchase 4. Expected life span of the digester 5. Opportunity to increase vegetable production 6. Savings on health treatments 7. Earning options for any extra time available 8. Technical brief 9. Cost of cooking fuel (total costs of wood, charcoal, LPG, kerosene) over 2 years 10. Value of 1 m3 of biogas/day, plus fertiliser, plus better health, plus less waste 11.
