Abstract

Traditional flush toilets have been unsuccessful in most areas of Sri Lanka. Not only are they unsuitable for various terrains and climates of the island, but also contribute to detrimental impacts on health and environment, as they contaminate our mineral reserves and increase the risk of water borne disease. The environmentally friendly Eco-sanitation toilets introduces by Practical Action show us how human refuse can be safely managed, and turned into a valuable resources. This video presents details of the Eco-friendly toilet, explains where it is most suited, its cost, design, etc. it also provides technical advice on how to construct an eco-san toilet. This video will be of special interest to Departments and Agencies working in health and sanitation, masons, users and potential users of eco-san toilets
