Abstract

Objectives The improved food security and livelihoods of 15000 (approximately 75,000 people) vulnerable marginal farming households engaged in both production and wage employment in single crop areas of Faridpur and Sirajganj district, Bangladesh through the development of an agriculture and market system developed, benefitting at least 15000 vulnerable marginal farming households (HHs) and 300 service providers. 15000 VMFHs; 300 Rural private agricultural service providers; Traders/buyers; Local NGOs 15000 VFMHs Activities • Using improved technologies, inputs and services thereby creating increased demand for locally delivered inputs and services. • Restoring agricultural production, increasing productivity, and reducing transaction costs, following the increased supply of productive assets, inputs, and services. R3. • Improving ability to negotiate and improve efficiency and reduce transaction cost through engagement in profitable value chains. • Provide Technology and capacity building training on animal husbandry, vegetable production, improved food crop production technique and fish cultivation. • Distribute quality inputs (quality food production seeds; animal feed, veterinary supplies, etc.,) and establish HH based storage facilities for marginal farmers; • Select service providers and organise skill development training on seed production/ preservation, organic fertilizer production, farm machinery repair/maintenance, animal health services and service market development; Promote activities for demand generation and market development of inputs and services; Organise seed fairs, vaccination camps. • Conduct PMSD workshops with producers, service providers, traders, stakeholders • Organise exchange/exposure visits for entrepreneurs; • Assist service providers to establish linkages with producers, certified seed sources, traders, and seed companies • Promote service points for selling rural produce and distributing agricultural inputs and services; Localise the value chains • Provide training and demonstration on agro-processing; Facilitate interest forum for building relationships with service providers, producers, traders and other stake holders.
