Abstract
This report presents findings from research by a group of Masters students from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) on the topic of energy sources and mobile connectivity for Early Warning Systems in remote, mountainous contexts. The topic and research were guided by Practical Action staff.
This report explores the challenges and barriers associated with operating Early Warning Systems in remote mountainous contexts, particularly in the case studies of Nepal and Peru, that experience gaps in energy supply and have limited to no mobile connectivity. It then identifies redundancies to mitigate these challenges and opportunities for potential alternatives in pursuit of developing and deploying more effective EWS.
