Abstract

An agreement was reached with the Nile Petroleum company (NPC) to supply LPG cylinders and communities are showing an interest in acquiring LPGs cylinders and gas appliances to enjoy the benefits of improved fuel. Market prices for LPG have increased and expected to rise more as a part of general trend of prices increase in the whole country. Building the capacity of the WDAN and beneficiaries will help to ensure sustainability, and learning from better practices in managing the revolving fund and to raise awareness of the communities of the principles of environment conservation. Goal: improving the livelihoods of poor families by switching to clean energy source, LPG, for cooking by Strengthening the capacity of the partners (i.e. WDAN) strengthened to help with the well-coordinated and participatory implementation of the activities towards partner's take over post-project. Reducing pressure on dwindling forests resources within the project area contributed to environment protection in North Darfur state. Reducing indoor pollution through sustainable supply and promoted widespread use of LPG units. Beneficiaries - 6,000 poor households of Elfasher town (about 70% of the total number of households in El Fasher which is 19,952 households).
