Abstract
Tartora Birka Jarro: Practical Action in partnership with the WDAN is hoping to build a huge earth embankment that will run alongside (not across) the „wadi„ – the fertile, clay soil. This means that when the rains fall, the water will not run off into a sandy soil wadi stream and be wasted, but stay and nourish the embryonic seedlings in the „wadi? on which the community so depends. In addition, it will help preserve the migratory route that runs along the edge of the wadi which has been seriously eroded by the water that streams across it.
