As presented in this book a new culture of planning is emerging in Kitale; the administrative and commercial capital of Trans-Nzoia District in western Kenya. The book has three major themes; participation, partnership and innovations are key ingredients of urban development. Community involvement especially of the vulnerable and marginalized provides a voice to the people and this encourages them to engage in their own development.
