Abstract

Flash flood due to intensive rainfall and river overflow damages rice crop every year in flood plains of Nepal and other countries with similar topography. Selection and adoption of suitable rice variety and cultivation technology can significantly reduce standing crop loss due to flood. This technical brief is produced to provide detail information on available varieties that can tolerate complete inundation up to 15 days. Steps of cultivation practice are based on the Practical Action’s  field experience in modern rice cultivation practice and technical information of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). This technology can also be applied to cultivate other rice varieties.
