Abstract
n April 2015 Gorkha was at the epicentre of a powerful earthquake which caused massive destruction in Nepal and significant loss of life, infrastructure and livelihoods. Practical Action had been working in this district for many years and had recently helped establish 14 energy based enterprises. These are unable to function without electricity leaving families without a livelihood. Rehabilitating these micro hydro systems will restore power to the people of Gorkha and provide energy for safer homes, schools,health facilities and businesses. www.practicalaction.org/rise
