Abstract

Promotion and implementation of community led total sanitation, credit scheme for investing in sanitation services plus capacity building of sanitation workers. 60% of residents have access to adequate on-plot sanitation (from 10%) and at-point hand-washing facilities (from 15%) and communities have organisational capacity and finance to complete remaining 40%. Minimum standard = 1 toilet per 4 households, structure providing security and privacy to users, surfaces that can be cleaned effectively, capture systems appropriate to the needs of the residents, including ease of use for children and the elderly, and soil conditions, and hand-washing facilities. 23,200 households (190,00 people in Kaptembwa and Rhonda.
