Abstract

Nurse Chanakira said that there had been a clinic here since 1990. There are 3 nurses at the clinic and they are on call 24/7. They see approximately 600 patients per month and around 10 babies are born every month. Their immunisation target is 135 children per year for TB, polio, whooping cough, tetanus. Since having electricity there has been an 80% increase in immunisations. Maternal health has greatly improved and night time births are much safer. They are now better able to treat snake bites during the night. There have been some problems with electricity supply so they are planning to buy a backup diesel generator to ensure that vaccines can be safely stored.
