Abstract

The aim of this project is to improve Donkey healthcare by improving the capacity of Community Based Animal Health Workers (CBAHW) in handling Donkeys by: holding training workshops to train CBAHW on basic Donkey health service delivery, host a local Donkey Day to raise communities’ awareness on the need to improve Donkeys health through vaccination, treatment of diseases including wounds. Produce and publish a Donkey CBAHW manual. To optimise Donkey carriage and tillage technology by improving carriage carts, loading practices and tillage equipments. Practical Action's vet, Dr. James Dokhe (right) provides support to a CBAHW (Community Based Animal Health Worker) in diagnosis of an ailing donkey in Khalaliyo in Mandera.
