Abstract
In cities across the globe, technologies are driving disruptions of informal and formal economies and shaping how workers interact with them. The disruptive impact of technologies is complex, can be at once positive and negative, and will differ depending on a whole range of contextual factors. This literature review informs a year-long project between Practical Action and WIEGO. It explores the characteristics of technologies, cities, work and economies that influence the disruptive impact of technologies.
