The Krishi call centre was launched in June 2014 and offers real-time advice on farming issues in Bangladesh. This is an initiative of Practical Answers working with the Ministry of Agriculture. One case study of a successful solution offered by the Krishi Call Centre is as follows: Munna from Thakurgaon is a duck farmer. He heard about the Krishi Call Centre on the radio. He is economically dependant on his duck farming and has over 200 ducks. Approximately 150 of his ducks were suffering from leg paralysis. When he phoned the call centre, he was told his ducks were likely suffering from Duck Plaque disease and the necessary treatment was recommended. Upon calling back to check up, Munna gratefully explained that his ducks were fully cured and his farm had benefitted greatly and had vaccinated his new batch of ducks. He is highly pleased with Krishi Call Centre’s Service.
