Mechanical Power

Mechanical power has been used for centuries for agro/food processing, water pumping, irrigation and other productive uses. Despite the importance of mechanical power as energy source for poorer people in developing countries, there exists little information available and the topic is largely neglected compared with electricity generation and the use of hydrocarbon fuels such as diesel.

Practical Answers is the Technical Information Service of Practical Action. It provides information on appropriate, small-scale technologies that improve the lives of people living in poverty.
